Department of Applied Arts and Design

Three year course

First Level Art and New Technologies course

New technologies have changed our society dramatically leading to an evolution in the world of art, its communication and the role of the artist, creating new horizons of the imaginary and forging new connections between aesthetics, ethics, philosophy and scientific disciplines. The School of Art and New Technologies, the so-called “Arts and Media”, is a training ground that develops practices and ideas on art, fostering the exchange and merging of know-how and expertise. Art has the ability and the need to transform techniques into style and communication, bringing out its full expressive potential.

Our School approaches and evaluates current trends with critical sensibility, orienting itself towards research, innovation, artistic experimentation and therefore should not be considered a technical school that simply pursues the commercial models of new media.

The educational syllabus reflects this variety of approaches, through theory classes and workshops capable of rendering a thorough, articulated and interdisciplinary training, to guide the student towards a conscious and fully-developed artistic and cultural activity. On the basis of these guidelines, whilst focusing on innovation, the School fully reflects the tradition of the Accademia di Belle Arti, which pursues, at the same level of university education, a perfectly harmonious training and development model based on theoretical knowledge and artistic practice.

  • the imagery of new media and consequent cultural transformations
