Two year course of Set Design

Second Level Costume Design specialization course

The courses are aimed at developing the necessary skills for the planning and design of the different forms of performances, together with theoretical and critical study, laboratory activities, workshops and internships involving highly qualified professionals and structures operating at a national and international level. The harmonious interdisciplinarity and collaboration between courses form the basis of a consolidated educational model that fosters direct participation in practical and laboratory training sessions, aimed at creating and staging theatrical, operatic and dance performances, television productions  and films. For this purpose collaborations and participation in staging projects and their production are planned on an annual basis. The School of Scenic Design has traditionally forged strong collaborative relations with the most important Italian Opera Organizations, with the most qualified Television and Film Production Companies, with renowned Laboratories for the creation of set design and costumes  as well as prestigious renowned international artists.

The transition from the First to the Second Level within the Accademia’s School of Scenic Design is automatic for a preset number of students.
For those students coming from another Accademia or University Faculty an admission test is required. The admission test is made up of:

  • A specific drawing and artwork test on a specific course specialization subject that consists in a number of assignments whose techniques are chosen by the candidate.
  • An aptitude interview with a presentation of the candidate’s portfolio showcasing works and projects.

Future Employment Prospects

Graduates will carry out professional activities in the different ares of theatrical, cinematographic and television set design, installations and costumes for show business.
