MASTERCLASS

As part of the activities of IartNET- an international platform for artistic research and cultural heritage within Italian higher arts education institutions, the Conservatorio di Musica “Luca Marenzio” di Brescia presents, within the framework of the Spazio Marenzio 2025/2026 programme, the masterclass Introduction to the Cataloguing of Printed Music Resources in SBN. The course will take place from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th February 2026 at the Fondo Prezioso of the Conservatory Library.

The masterclass offers an introduction to the cataloguing of printed music within the Italian National Library Service (Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale – SBN). The programme includes in-depth sessions on bibliographic research tools for music and on the musical collections preserved by the Conservatory Library and within the Brescia area.

Participants will be introduced to the analysis and structure of the SBN OPAC. Using examples drawn from printed music sources held by the Library, attendees will be guided through the reading and creation of bibliographic descriptions according to SBN standards. The course will be led by Nadia Masini, Laura Rinnovati, Mariella Sala, and Sara Taglietti, professionals with recognised expertise in music librarianship and the cataloguing of musical resources.

Participants: The masterclass is intended for librarians, archivists, students, and professionals interested in the management and enhancement of musical heritage, reaffirming the Conservatory’s commitment to specialised training and to the promotion and valorisation of its historical collections.
