IartNET| Cross-sector skills in the cultural and creative industries

13th February 2026 - 21st March 2026 |  Accademia Teatro alla Scala Milan

INTERNATIONAL LECTURES WITH VISITING SCHOLARS

The cycle of International Lectures with Visiting Scholars, Cross-sector skills in the cultural and creative industries: technologies, research methodologies and approaches to digital technology, promoted by Accademia Teatro alla Scala, Milan, will explore the role of digital technology and artificial intelligence in the cultural and creative industries. The digital revolutions of the last 30 years have radically changed the ecosystem of professions, skills, and production processes in the labour market. The world of cultural and creative industries has also been affected by this transformation: VR, 3D, and Artificial Intelligence have been integrated into the artistic and creative languages of entertainment, while also stimulating renewal in the technical field.

While these innovations have brought opportunities to the sector, they have also revealed certain risks and fragilities. Some European research projects have highlighted how skills related to new technologies are multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral “transferable skills” that can be applied in multiple sectors, allowing people to work effectively in different contexts and integrate knowledge from different disciplinary areas.

All these aspects will be explored in depth through three clusters:

  • the first focuses on context, emerging challenges, and questions regarding systems of skills and professions in general;
  • the second addresses cross-sector opportunities and tools related to digital technology, starting from the cultural sector;
  • the third presents techniques and examples in which digital technology and artificial intelligence have been used in the entertainment sector, and how they can open up space for new cross-sectoral skills and professions.

Accademia Teatro alla Scala complies with the standards and guidelines of the European Quality Assurance System. The course cycle responds to the internationalisation and didactic innovation objectives defined in the Strategic Plan. The cycle is organised within the framework of the project IartNET – an international platform for artistic research and cultural heritage in Higher Education in the Arts and Music, funded by NextGenerationEU and coordinated by Brera Academy.
