Theoretical Single Courses
Admission to Second Level Diploma Subject
Single courses allow access to the study of a subject which is in the Accademia’s Study Programmes, without being enrolled in a First or Second Level academic diploma course.
Available courses can be consulted on this site, in the Study programmes of all first and Second Level academic diploma courses: in the summary charts of the Study programmes the Single Courses that can be attended are identified by the letter “T” in the column “Type”.
In order to keep abreast of the latest professional developments or for reasons of cultural enhancement Italian and foreign citizens are admitted to follow the single course training and educational activities.
Enrolled students may attend classes, sit the related exams and obtain a certificate with the consequent attribution of course credits.

Admission to Single Theoretical Second Level Courses is open to those students who have obtained a degree or other equivalent qualification. Registration is open and is not subject to an entrance exam. The course is annual.

Those students who have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent can access single theoretical courses. Registration is open and is not subject to an entrance test. The Single Course is annual.

For the activation of the Percorso24CFA, the ministerial provisions for the 2020/2021 academic year are awaited.

Please note that you can obtain recognition of credits obtained in curricular, additional or extra-curricular form under Legislative Decree 59/2017 and according to the definition of D.M. 616/2017 art. 1, letter m), n) or):
Updating
Updating
Attendance of the Percorso24CFA courses, with relative credits, requires a fee of 125 Euro for every course, in addition to a 30 Euro registration fee that is a reimbursement of administrative and secretarial expenses.
Candidates with disabilities, those with a recognized handicap condition (in accordance to art.3 of the L. 104/1992) as well as those with a disability condition equal to or greater than 66%, are exempt from any payment of registration fees. To take advantage of the exemption, the interested parties must produce the district medical certificate that ascertains the status and degree of invalidity or handicap condition.
At the end of the Percorso24CFA, and upon reaching the 24 course credits, the Accademia di Belle Arti will issue the Single Final Certification necessary participating in the state qualifying exam. It will certify the achievement of objectives, the exam marks and the course credits acquired, including the credits obtained in previous activities and certified by the providing institutions , in accordance to the Decree Law 59/2017, art.5 paragraph 1 letter b and paragraph 2 letter b.
For those students still enrolled in academic or university courses the Single Final Certification as set down in D.M 616/17 Art.3 paragraph 6, can be issued following the Second Level Academic qualification or the Master’s Degree Course (the qualifications required for teaching) exclusively from the last institution where the exams for the 24 Credits will be taken.
It should be noted that the recognition of credits obtained in previous courses and in other institutions must be carried out by those institutions by means of a Preliminary Recognition Certificate. It is kindly requested therefore to check the procedures in place at your alma mater.
The Accademia di Brera fully acknowledges the Certificates of other institutions. PLEASE NOTE however, that the credits will not be integrated in the Single Final Certificate in absence of the Preliminary recognition certificate.

Preparatory Course
Afternoon Course
The Preparatory Course is aimed at those students who, having no specific formal artistic training, want to prepare in the best possible way to take the entrance exam to First Level Courses at the Accademia (Painting, Sculpture, Decoration, Art Graphics, Scenic Design, Artistic Planning for Business ).
Moreover, the Preparatory Course can be attended by candidates previously rejected for admission tests to First level courses and by those students enrolled in First and Second Level courses in order to re-take failed exams, as set down according to art. 8/1, cc 5 and 6 of the Accademia di Brera Didactic Regulations.

You must have a High School diploma or other recognized qualification. Enrollment is open and no entrance test is required. The Course lasts one year.
Department of Visual Arts
Afternoon Course
The School of Craftsmen, with its distinctive training, is part of the Department of Visual Arts, allowing those interested to analyze a range of different artistic expertise and knowledge, as well as broadening their cultural outlook.
In addition to traditional classroom teaching activities, there are workshops, seminars, conferences and meetings with internationally famous artists representative of the different contemporary tendencies.
During the academic year there are also opportunities to take part in exhibitions with public and private institutions, taking advantage of the traditional consolidated relationships of the Accademia with the city of Milan and the surrounding area.

Admission is subject to registering for the entrance test, the dates of which are available on the Accademia’s official website.
The selection is made on the basis of an aptitude test which includes a still-life drawing, using real-life models or other subjects, depending on the choice of the Commission.
The maximum length of the afternoon course attendance is 5 years (even in the event of an interruption)
Future Employment Prospects
The training course aims to develop students’ interpretation skills of phenomena related to the world of art. It fosters experiences, both in free artistic expression and creativity as well as in the guided development of design and applied art careers.
Department of Visual Arts
Two year course
The objective is to foster the training of a new, innovative professional profile: the art therapist. An expert in visual communication, able to liaise with therapeutic teams related to psychic and/or socio-environmental distress, the art therapist experiments the different languages of art as an expressive and creative opportunity that promotes taking care of oneself. In addition to lectures, individual research and analysis, participation in conferences, seminars, workshops and internships, as well as artistic productions, to Art Therapy Workshops in healthcare facilities or socio-educational organizations, the apprenticeship in the different partner socio-educational and health organizations is considered key in order to achieve the objectives and aspire to high artistic-therapeutic professional levels.

Additional training and educational activities to be chosen amongst a range of available courses together with Seminars-Workshops-Internships, Apprenticeships.
Enrollment is open to all those who have a First Level Academic Diploma or Degree from artistic, literary, scientific or medical educational studies.
The selection for admission takes place by means of an aptitude-motivational interview and on the basis of the evaluation of the curriculum vitae and curriculum studiorum, together with a personal portfolio (showcasing any publications, artistic documentation etc). Registration for the aptitude interview takes place exclusively via web, by connecting to the website of Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (www.accademiadibrera.milano.it), registering your personal data and following the instructions of the “online secretariat” procedure
Future Employment Prospects
Since 2004-2005( when the two year specialization course was established) today approximately 60% of graduates carry out art therapy activities in the following environments:
- Psychiatric Care Services (psychiatric rehabilitation facilities)
- Pedagogical artistic field (primary school education)
- Preventive structures (social services)
- Youth distress, prevention and recovery areas (protected communities, drug addiction recovery facilities, youth detention centres/prisons)
- Area of problematic ethic-social-cultural integration of immigrants
- Disabilities (socio-educational centres)
- Healthcare facilities (hospital facilities, departments, oncology, geriatrics, pediatrics, cardiology wards etc)
- Relations with international Associations for the aid and support of children and destitute adults
