Participation in the ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP programme sees the provision of a grant to all participating students, provided by the European Union and ranging from a minimum of 350 Euro to a maximum of 450 Euro in monthly payments, depending on the destination, for a 2 to 4 month traineeship period at a host company/organization based in any EU country. All Italian and foreign students can participate in the exchange programme provided they are duly enrolled at Brera Academy.

For further information regarding traineeship opportunities and companies/organizations students can consult the “Eligible Locations” guide and the location has to be selected independently

Every trainee must get the Learning Agreement For Traineeship (the Project description of the activity to be carried out at the host company/institute by the trainee) signed by the beneficiary, by the Accademia’s International Relations Office and by the host company/organization. Students mobility

All Italian and foreign students from any country in the world can participate in the international exchange programme, provided they are duly enrolled in the Accademia in the current academic year. It is possible to apply as from the first year of studies, as it relates to a study period in the following academic year. Participation in the ERASMUS+ programme sees the provision of a grant to all participating students, provided by the European Community, ranging from a minimum of 250 Euro to a maximum of 350 Euro in monthly payments (calculated on a daily basis), depending on the destination, for a study period equivalent to a semester or one academic year.

Participation in the Erasmus+ programme requires students to submit all the documentation as set out at the bottom of the page, adhering to the set procedures and deadlines, no later than the 31st of January 2025

Send Application

  1. The application calls for the indication of three destinations to be selected from the list of the Accademia’s partner institutions, which can be found as an attachment at the bottom of the page. It is essential to make a choice consistent with the student’s own educational path, evaluating  and analyzing the availability of courses which are feasible with the student’s study plan.
  2. We would like to remind those students who are evaluating the different proposals for studying abroad, that in the case of University partners, the exchange is feasible at the University’s Faculty of Fine Arts. We strongly advise students to steer their research towards  corresponding courses to similar exams and to those chosen in the study plan (particularly for the three year courses), as they must be similar in content in order to be recognized. It is also preferable to look for practical, laboratory or workshop subjects in order to contain the difficulty of the foreign language.
  1. Once the Announcement is closed, the Erasmus Office will make an internal selection and assign each student a destination, which may not always correspond to the requests of the student; in this case the Office commits itself, together with the candidate, to find a suitable destination. The selection will be made on the basis of the portfolio, the correspondence of the student’s profile with the academic offer of the foreign university and the availability of places.
  2. The Erasmus Office will take the necessary steps to contact every student deemed eligible to continue the application process, by prior arrangement, to carry out the paperwork required in order to submit the application to the selected institution, which, according to its own time frame, will confirm whether or not to accept the application. In the event of a negative outcome, the Erasmus Office commits itself, in agreement with the student, to, if need be, proceed with another application, compatibly with the deadlines and availability of the partner institutions.

Participants, on their return after the period abroad, MUST fill in the EVALUATION REPORT online, as required by the European Community, to finalize the project with the registration of marks and credits carried out by the Erasmus Office.

In order to partecipate in the programmes students must SEND all the following documentation by EMAIL, WHICH MUST BE ELECTRONICALLY COMPILED IN EDITABLE WORD FORMAT, or alternatively, students can submit the documentation directly to the office using a USB stick.

The history of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera’s library goes back to 1778 when the Administrator, Carlo Bianconi, started to collect and keep books, prints, engravings, drawings and xylographs in his office.

His successor, the painter, writer and intellectual Giuseppe Bossi, who was the Administrator from 1802 to 1807, also understood the importance and benefit of having a well-stocked library for art studies. He himself was willing to spend large sums in order to see the library kept current and up-to-date; he acquired a number of rare and invaluable books as well as prestigious collections through exchanges and purchases.

The library is also a depository for drawings and prints, as well as an archive and that is the reason why, in the current premises, inaugurated by President Sandro Pertini in 1984, all the resources relating to the Accademia’s Patrimony and assets are deposited: in the gallery there is the Archive with the Historical Resources of the Library, in the basement there is the Contemporary Art Library, the Painting Collection, the Drawings and Prints Room.

The Accademia’s Library of Contemporary Art , located in the underground levels of the building, is illuminated by a large skylight making it a particularly bright space.

It has approximately 40,000 volumes and numerous periodicals. It is a single room with open shelves which run all the way around the Reading Room which holds approximately 60 seats.
The computerized cataloguing of the entire contemporary collection is underway. Bibliographic research must be carried out using first the library’s OPAC and subsequently the card catalogs.

Students are granted on-site consultation of the material while teachers can access the lending service. The reorganization and reclassification of library material carried out in  previous years, allows only the teaching staff to have direct access to the consultation of the different sections. There is, however, also for students, a section dedicated to direct consultations and reference use of Encyclopedias, general texts and dictionaries.

Acquisitions take place on an annual basis through the form of purchases and donations aimed at completing the already available series and keeping the library up-to-date. In the Reading Room there are nine computers available both for research work and for personal study use.

The library also has a periodicals section, made up in part by newspapers which have now been discontinued and by current subscriptions.

  • THE LIBRARY IS OPEN FROM 9.00 TO 14.00 FROM MONDAY TO THURSDAY, AND FROM 9.30 TO 14.00 ON FRIDAYS. LAST ENTRY AND BOOK LOANS HALF AN HOUR BEFORE CLOSING
  • IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE THE LIBRARY FOR PURPOSES OR ACTIVITIES THAT CAUSE DISTURBANCE TO READERS IN ANY WAY

  • THE REQUEST FOR VOLUMES TO BE CONSULTED IS LIMITED TO THREE AND IN ANY CASE THE USER CANNOT HAVE MORE THAN THREE BOOKS AT THE SAME TIME.

Health and Safety at the Accademia di Brera

In the attached booklet students can find a list of the precautions to be taken when handling tools, instruments and chemicals commonly used in teaching.

And it is precisely for students’ own health and safety that it is strictly forbidden to introduce and make use of means other than those approved by the Accademia di Brera itself. If in doubt every teacher is able to provide students with advice and direction.

Devoting some time to reading the Health and Safety Manual is a worthwhile investment for later on in life: being aware of potential dangers and standards for conduct are useful prerequisites for all professionals who want to protect their own health and safety, the health and safety of others as well as the quality and respectability of their own professional work.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any clarification or guidance at the following email address: safety_team@accademiadibrera.milano.it
