SEMINAR AND ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION

 

The seminar aims to investigate the role of institutions in narrating contemporary art. Following an initial overview of the importance of pedagogical practices capable of fostering critical awareness of what is defined as art, the discussion will address the critical issues inherent in the different models adopted by museums and art academies to document and narrate artists’ works. Starting from the interview as a direct model through which artists can articulate their own research processes, the seminar will examine exemplary case studies and reflect on some of the challenges and limitations associated with this narrative practice.

The day will feature contributions by Laura Cherubini and Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, two indispensable voices in the history of contemporary art since the 1980s, whose curatorial work and teaching activities at the Accademia di Brera have shaped generations of artists prominent in the national and international art scenes. Maura Favero (MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts, Rome) will reflect on documentation as a dialogical practice aimed at the creation of a meaningful corpus on and for the artwork.

The seminar will conclude with a round-table discussion involving artists who trained under Alberto Garutti and Luciano Fabro and who participated in a research project dedicated to the interview as a narrative tool. The interview project, conceived according to an approach that is neither journalistic nor academic but rather as a conversation and an exchange of reflections on issues such as artistic training, techniques, materials used in the creative process, and the conservation of artworks, involved 24 artists in its first phase, five of whom: Rebecca Agnes, Simone Berti, Ettore Favini, Bernhard Rüdiger, and Anna Scalfi will be speaking to share their experiences and any critical issues with this form of communication.

The initiative forms part of the PNRR project INTAFAM IartNET – an international platform for artistic research and cultural heritage at Italian higher arts education institutions, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, for which the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera is the lead institution.

È indetta una selezione pubblica, per titoli di merito e colloquio, per la formazione di una graduatoria atta a definire l’assegnazione di n. 30 borse di collaborazione ad attività connesse ai servizi resi da questa Istituzione, da destinarsi agli studenti iscritti ai corsi di primo e secondo livello dell’Accademia.

La domanda di partecipazione alla selezione (MODULO A) dovrà essere consegnata entro e non oltre le ore 14.30 del giorno 19 gennaio 2026 presso l’Ufficio Protocollo, sito in Via Fiori Oscuri n. 7, aperto il lunedì dalle ore 12.00 alle ore 14.30 e dal martedì al venerdì dalle ore 10.00 alle ore 12.30, oppure via mail scrivendo all’indirizzo:

La Resistenza di Norma, il coraggio della libertà

In occasione degli 80 anni dalla Liberazione martedì 16 dicembre 2025 alle ore 11 nell’Aula 10 per iniziativa di Giacomo Agosti e Paola Salvi nell’ambito del progetto di collaborazione con la Città di Massa Marittima l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera presenta ai suoi studenti e al pubblico milanese il docufilm di Corriere.it “La Resistenza di Norma, il coraggio della libertà” di Riccardo Bicicchi.

Per l’occasione sarà presentata la video-istallazione “Che bel fior” di Stella Zaltieri Pirola, con Elisa Calevro e Laura Nardi, dedicata a Norma Parenti e già esposta nella Sala dell’Abbondanza di Massa Marittima a giugno 2025 nell’ambito della mostra In-contatto con la memoria, organizzata dall’associazione Iride.

Intervengono: la Sindaca del Comune di Massa Marittima, Irene Marconi, il regista Riccardo Bicicchi, Giacomo Agosti e Paola Salvi dell’Accademia di Brera.

INTENSIVE FREE TRAINING COURSE 

As part of the activities of IartNET – an international platform for artistic research and cultural heritage at Italian higher arts education institutions – the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera announces an intensive free training course Digital Communication for Music & Cultural Heritage. Press office, social media and storytelling for the enhancement of musical and documentary heritage, coordinated by Valentina Anzani (OperaMeet Agency) in collaboration with Marcello Mazzetti and Attilio Cantore (Conservatorio “L. Marenzio” of Brescia).

The course was designed as a specialised training programme aimed at developing professional skills in cultural communication, with a specific focus on the promotion and dissemination of musical and documentary heritage within artistic and academic institutions. Its combined theoretical input, hands-on activities and guided workshops addressing press office practices, media relations, social media editorial planning, brand identity, and digital storytelling techniques.

Delivered through a blended format – with on-site teaching complemented by online sessions – the programme equipped participants with the tools to design coherent and effective communication strategies tailored to musical archives, research initiatives, and contemporary artistic projects. 

The activity strengthened the interdisciplinary and participatory vision of dissemination promoted by the IartNet project, supporting the transfer of specialised competences and the development of integrated communication practices for the enhancement of cultural heritage.
